Raffles Seychelles – Review

Here is my review…

Raffles Seychelles, located on the stunning Praslin Island, is a luxurious retreat offering a serene escape amidst the natural beauty of the Seychelles. The property sprawls across steep hills, which not only offer breathtaking views of the island and the Indian Ocean but also lend the resort a sense of seclusion and tranquility. Walking around the grounds feels like being immersed in a tropical garden, with well-kept plants and vibrant flowers adding to the visual appeal of the resort.

The villas at Raffles are spacious and elegantly designed, providing the perfect space for relaxation. While they remain luxurious, they are beginning to show signs of age, but renovations are scheduled to refresh these accommodations soon. Even so, the villas continue to impress with their comfort and beautiful views from the terraces.

We stayed in an ocean view pool villa, and loved relaxing in the pool or having a drink in the lounge area, while watching the lush nature and the ocean below.
The hillside garden view pool villas are a good option for maximum privacy, but I would recommend booking a ocean view or panoramic pool villa if the budget allows it.

Most guests will find the location of the villas convenient for walking to the restaurants and other amenities, but for those who prefer not to walk, the resort provides buggies for quick transport, ensuring comfort and ease at all times.

One of the standout features at Raffles Seychelles is the high level of service. The staff is attentive, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile to meet guest needs. Whether it’s at the restaurants, around the pool, or with housekeeping, the service consistently impresses. Every night during turndown service, they also bring small gifts like sweets, snacks, fresh herbs to put in your tea, and other things.

Dining at the resort is another highlight. The food is good, with a variety of cuisines offered across the different restaurants. A notable perk is the several brands of Champagne included with breakfast, adding a touch of indulgence to your morning routine.

However, it’s worth noting that while the food is satisfying, drinks at the resort can be on the expensive side.
We found the Curieuse restaurant to have the best setting, and overall the menu was better. But the two best dishes we had during the holiday, was the lobster and the ceviche at Losean restaurant.

The bar is mostly empty (probably due to the price level), and when we enjoyed our drinks, it was a bit too silent. We do not want it crowded by any means, but a few more people would be good for the atmosphere.

For beach lovers, Raffles Seychelles offers a lovely stretch of sand, though by Seychelles’ high standards, it is not amongst the most spectacular ones on the island. Still, it provides a peaceful place to unwind and enjoy the sound of the waves. The pool area, on the other hand, is a definite attraction, with plenty of loungers available and a serene atmosphere perfect for relaxation.

Do not miss out on hikes to other beautiful beaches like Anse Georgette and Anse Lazio. Hiking up in the steep hills or the tropical forests is also highly recommended!

The views from the hills is lovely

Overall, Raffles Seychelles is a stunning property that offers an upscale experience with top-notch service, excellent dining options, and a relaxing atmosphere. While there are minor areas that could benefit from the upcoming renovations, the resort remains a wonderful option for those seeking a luxurious island getaway.

Special thanks to Cecile and Ishtyhad (I hope I spelled the names right) at Losean. Nothing was too much trouble and always great service with a big smile.

We had a wonderful week at Raffles Seychelles and would surely recommend it to others. We also might go back one day.
