Rahaa

Rahaa is a new resort in The Laamu Atoll!

Rahaa is located on the South West rim of the Laamu atoll, in the Southern Maldives. It can be reached by a 35 minute domestic flight to Kadhdhoo airport followed by a speed boat. There are no other resorts close to it; the closest one is Six Senses Laamu. There are only two resorts in this atoll, meaning it is the only budget friendly resort in this area. Well budget friendly by Maldives standards…

It is a quite unique island, with its lake like lagoon in the middle surrounded by white beaches; and is a very interesting addition in the country as there are no other resorts like it.

It is a 4 star resort featuring 116 rooms on a 5,8 hectares island. There is one restaurant and one bar. An additional pool bar is scheduled to open summer 2020. There is also a diving centre and a spa called Rahaa Spa.

There are two types of accommodation to choose from, all can accommodate two adults and a child, or three adults and have ensuite bathrooms with outdoor showers. They are made from natural materials and colours, and feature a minimalistic design.

Dhirun’Bar is located on the beach overlooking the breath-taking views of the Indian Ocean.

I am looking forward to see how this resort will perform in the mid-range market. It will bring something different with its unique shape, and it might do well as most new resorts are 5 stars, so there is a need for more budget friendly resorts.

    1. The reef on the North side is not very accessible, as it is too far to swim. The reef on the South side is exposed to very stong waves. But from what I have understood, they still offer free snorkeling excursions (but you should double check with the resort to get that confirmed).
